WHAT TO DO DURING A FREEZE?
Ensure All Pumps Are Running:
-
Verify that all pumps in your pool equipment are operating to maintain water circulation and prevent freezing.
-
If you notice that your equipment does not turn on automatically, it typically means there is no freeze protection or that it is not enabled. In this case:
-
Put Your Equipment in Service Mode: Manually set your system to service mode.
-
Turn On All Pumps: Ensure all pumps are running to keep water circulating and avoid freezing.
-
Find videos below showcasing the process.
-

Prepare for Power Outages:
-
If there is no power, follow these steps (if your pool equipment is at a lower elevation than your pool, please contact Poolheads for advise before draining):
-
Turn Off the Pool Equipment Breakers: Before draining, ensure the breakers are turned off to prevent the equipment from turning on and running dry when power is restored.
-
Drain the Pumps: Remove the pump lid and the plugs on the pump housing to release any water (see picture below).
-
Drain the Filter: Unscrew the filter plug and open the air relief valve to ensure no water remains in the system (see picture below).
-
Drain the Heater: Unscrew the drain plug from the manifold of the heater to drain any remaining water.
-
Find video below showcasing the process.
-

Add Extra Protection:
-
Cover your equipment with a tarp to shield it from cold winds and retain some heat.
